A WARNING FOR YOUR SOUL
I would be seriously remiss if I didn't put this important warning on this
website.
Please be very careful to keep angels, cherubs and other similar items in
their proper perspective, as entertaining and inspirational novelties-- nothing
more.
The second commandment says the following (from the King James
version of the Bible):
[Exodus 20:4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any
likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth
beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
If you believe in the infallibility and accuracy of the Bible, and that it
was created from inspiration of God, then you must make sure not to violate the
second commandment.
To regard our "angels" as anything more than an item to trigger a
mental reminder of the infinite universe we exist in, which includes the creator
and all below, could be akin to the Israelites worshipping the cast idol
when Moses descended from the mountain with the first set of commandments.... a
VERY bad thing to do!
Of course, there are a great many interpretations of what the commandments
mean in our lives, and many who do not follow them, nor the Bible.
This warning is merely to serve as a reminder for those who do believe in the
teachings and laws of the Bible that they may need to reflect on how they regard
"angelic" items.
For, in reality, I would suggest that one could not capture the true beauty
of a real angel in a piece of ceramic, alabastrite or plastic. Nor would a
piece of photographic paper be capable of reproducing the awe and grandeur of
heaven. To think that these things could reflect the reality of heaven,
and Gods messengers, would be a rather large insult to them.
Faith is not in the physical items, but in the spiritual realm.
Have a wondrous day!
John Martin
